Some times you wonder how we are able to come up with food concepts, knowing which ingredient to add together in order to come up with a masterpiece. Danwake is an example of one of those masterpiece. Danwake (Hausa Traditional Dumpling) is a food specifically made in the Northern part of Nigeria and looking at the ingredient mixture and directions of cooking, this food is indeed innovative and something what trying at home.

- 2 cups danwake flour ( danwake flour is a mixture of ground beans
- wheat flour
- 1 cassava flour in equal quantities and
- 2 tablespoons of baobab powder- kuka in hausa)
- 1 teaspoon potash, ground
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion, chopped
Directions
- 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
- Fry the onions in the vegetable oil till golden brown. Put oil aside to cool.
- Dissolve the potash in 1 & 1/2 cup water then add to the flour and mix till it forms a somewhat thick but soft dough.
- Drop in boiling water using a spoon, cook for 15mins.
- Strain and rinse in lukewarm water.
Now you can try out something new at home. Trying new food will spice up your home life as you and your family will not be subjected to the same food menu over and over again. Now your family can look forward to their breakfast, lunch or dinner because of the suspense you bring into the kitchen.
- Serve immediately with the onion flavored vegetable oil,sprinkle of pepper, boiled eggs and cooked veggies
