Efo (Spinach) is a leaf that can be classified under other green leaves with the most nutritious of low calorie foods. In Nigeria, it is commonly used to cook soups like Egusi and Efo Riro. Spinach is good for the human body, it is an incredible immune system bolster that can protect one against health problems throughout life.

  1. Spinach has a high nutritional value, especially when fresh, frozen, steamed, or quickly boiled. It is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, magnesium, manganese, folate and iron.

  3. It helps to prevent and fight cancer.
  4. It discourages heart attacks, even if you already have cardiovascular issues.
  5. It is also a great source of vitamins C and K. It can sooth infected and inflamed parts of your body, like stomach ulcers.
  6. It helps to prevent the body against osteoporosis.
  7. Eradication of different causes of fatigue.
  8. Helps supply oxygen to blood making it very important for brain health.
  9. Helps cure general symptoms of anemia like fatigue, body weakness, headaches, and enhanced sensitivity to cold temperatures.
It is important that we remind you, that you can only enjoy this nutritional and health benefits if you eat the fresh and raw, quickly boil them or juice them ( this most effective). The vegetable loose some, if not all of their nutrients when it is over-cooked.
