Samosa is an Indian fried pastry but now very common in Nigerian Parties as small chops. Today, a party isn't complete without small chop, which usually comprise of puff puff, spring rolls, peppered gizzard or peppered chicken, mosa and samosa.
While a party is not complete without small chops, small chops is not complete without the Samosa. However many people run away from this because it seem pretty complex and hard, but the samosa is actually pretty easy to make. Here is recipe on how to make samosa
For the filling :
Ingredients :
2 (two) medium Irish potatoes
2 (two) handfuls of green peas
100g (one hundred) minced beef
2 (two) cooking spoonfuls of oil
1 (one) stockcube
1 (one)stalk of spring onion
1 (one) tea spoon of curry powder
Pepper and salt to taste
Step 1:
wash, dice and boil the potatoes until tender. Heat oil, add chopped onions, curry, stir fry a bit, add the minced meat, stir fry, add stock cube, pepper, salt to taste, add the green peas, boiled potatoes, mix all together and leave to simmer, set aside and allow to cool down
Scoop some filling into the cone, rub some water on the edges and seal
Step 3:
Fry in moderately hot oil, flip it over when one side turns golden brown to brown on the other side. Drain on paper towels
*Note you can customise the filling to your taste, traditionally , the samosa filling is prepared with vegetables including potatoes and peas as the most common vegetable
*Samosa are also prepared with minced meat or chicken fillings
* Samosa can also be baked
